117th IOC SESSION OPENING CEREMONY
"ONE VOICE, ONE RHYTHM, ONE WORLD" BACKGROUNDER

About the production: Inspired by the rhythm of Singapore’s soul, this avant-garde performance brings audiences on an exceptional journey of sights and sounds through the eyes of its lead character.

Harmonious voices, pulsating rhythm and glittery glamour completes the odyssey showcasing the vibrant fabric of Singapore’s multicultural diversity, vitality and unity

About Glen Goei: Glen’s love affair with the stage began as long as he can remember.  But his professional career started sixteen years ago with his stage debut as the transvestite spy Song Liling in the Tony award winning play M. Butterfly with Anthony Hopkins in the West End.

He went on to pursue his career as a director both in London and Singapore, directing numerous award winning plays, musicals, cabaret revues, commercials, music videos, a feature film, the past two National Day Parades in 2003 and 2004 as well as the Singapore Pavilion at the 2004 World Expo in Japan.

About the 117th IOC Session: The 117th IOC Session will be held in Singapore at the
Raffles City Convention Centre from 6 to 9 July where the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games will be decided. The announcement ceremony for the successful host city will commence at 7.30pm on 6 July 2005 and will be broadcasted to more than 1 billion people worldwide. The Session will also review the Summer Olympics programme where each of the 28 sports in the Summer Olympics will be put to a vote. Some 3,000 to 5,000 sports officials, enthusiasts and media will be travelling from all over the world to Singapore for the session.
